Ol’ Man Winter has arrived for his annual visit, bringing with him pals Biting Wind, Frigid Temps and Dreary Sky. Pretty Snowfall may drop by during his stay, but her presence is unpredictable most years. The others are easier to put up with if she makes a couple of appearances.
It’s the little things that add up to make Winter’s layover manageable. Here are a few of my favorites.
*Holding and drinking cups of hot cocoa
*Jumping back into bed before the warm spot is gone
*Scent of wood smoke from neighborhood chimneys
*Burrowing under layers of quilts
*Soft fuzzy throws
*Cat that has decided he likes lapsitting
*Steaming crockpot suppers
*Laughter and chats that warm from the inside out
*Getting into a warned-up car
*Watching funny black-and-white movies
*Warming inside of coat by a fire before getting bundled up
*Furry hoods, boots, mittens and muffs
Share the warmth with a donation to a worthy charitable event. Give coats/scarves/mittens or dollars to help warm the bodies, tummies and hearts of local families in need this winter.
